Our Approach to Invasive Weed Control

Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica), a fast-spreading perennial, is a formidable invasive species. Originating from Japan, Korea, and parts of East Asia, its growth is naturally controlled by local fungi and insects in its native regions. However, in non-native environments, it thrives unchecked, posing significant challenges far from its natural ecosystem.

Japanese Knotweed and its surrounding soil are classified as controlled waste, akin to materials like asbestos, requiring a structured remediation plan. Per Environment Agency guidelines, all affected sites should have a Japanese Knotweed Management Plan (KMP). Our plans align with the industry-standard Knotweed Code of Practice, ensuring the appropriate methods are applied and ongoing monitoring is conducted to fully eliminate the infestation.
